It all begins with just one idea. Amongst our skills lies our ability to create innovative designs which will not only be stylish but also functional and suitable for you.
We carry out feasibility studies to define the goals of each project, identify potential opportunities and constraints, specify the size and design criteria for each space and estimate construction cost.
We undertake planning applications which we then submit to the local authority for permission, taking into consideration all the requirements and guidelines, both local and national.
Following Planning Approval, every project (with very few exceptions) needs to go through a check from Building Control to ensure compliance with Legal Requirements & Regulations. This procedure requires the production of fairly detailed drawings & building notes / specification of materials to be used in building works to follow - demonstrating a very good understanding of construction, which SD Studio has and offers to its clients.
After obtaining the aforementioned approvals, we prepare and collate all the information needed for tender and price negotiation. This information can then be used by the Main Contractor and / or nominated Sub-Contractors over the construction stage. When a project starts on site, we can offer our clients the option of our monitoring building works on site throughout duration of the project. This can include periodic site visits to ensure quality of work and compliance with Construction Drawings and us acting as our clients’ liaison with the Contractors for all technical, financial and operational matters involved.

Conceptual Design Boards
Spiros Defteraios has studied Architecture between 1998 and 2012 in both UK and Greece and he has gained postgraduate qualifications in the field – capable to provide him with RIBA – Part II exemption.
He is today an Associate Member of Royal Institute of British Architects.
Spiros’ commitment to Architecture has led him to undertake most of his studies on a Part-Time basis while working in Architectural & Design Practices at the same time. This opportunity has provided him with the ability to combine the theoretical element, provided by his education in Architecture, with the practical and technical aspect of the profession given by the working environment he was part of throughout his studies.
Since 2002, Spiros has been working in the West & East Midlands Regions and also nationally in the UK and internationally in mainland Europe. 13 years of experience in combining the artistic element of Architecture with the practical and technical aspect of construction, has provided SD Studio with a series of successful projects that we take particular pride of Spiros is always keen on taking in any challenging projects and transform the ‘constraint’ into an ‘opportunity’ for our clients.
Coming from an Educational background, Vicky is currently working at SD Studio as an Office Manager. Her organisational skills and efficient time management make her a valuable member of the team. Amongst Vicky’s positive attributes lie her excellent communication skills and integrity, as well as her genuine interest in people.
Having studied Philosophy, she believes that people pursue happiness in everything they do and she applies this belief in her everyday life. Particularly, in the Construction industry, Vicky supports the notion that the built environment surrounding us should contribute to our happiness and well-being, by respecting our privacy but at the same time by giving us the opportunity to feel the warmth and kindness of a neighbourhood.
